The city of Kelbra with its beautiful urban quarter Tilleda is located at the southern part of the Harz at the feet of the Kyffhäuser mountains in the Goldenen Aue . Families will find an interesting and adventurous place to be. Between the 8. to the 13th century, German emperors and kings had their residence there, the so-called Pfalz. This is the only Pfalz in Germany completely digged out and a station along the Straße der Romanik. On the site of the original location the most important parts of this impressive Pfalz are reconstructed in an open-air museum. There the visitor himself can get active and get interesting impressions of the life at the royal court. Children might go treasure hunting at a special exciting excavation site. During the course of the year interesting festivals take place here.
