Slowly the oldest still existing narrow-gauge railroad drives through the landscape of the Mansfeld mining region. To the right and to the left, travelers will see the witnesses of the century-old mining tradition. For the distance of 11 km the train takes about 40 minutes to arrive at Hettstedt at the copper mine.
Here in the Hettstedt copper mine´s old train shed exhibitions are held temporarily or little cultural events are organized for those arriving by the mining train. On its way to Hettstedt the train stops at Zirkelschachthalde, a flat damp that can be climbed up granting a great view.
There are special events of great popularity such as the Easter Bunny running along the route and bringing little presents for the children in the train or the train on Ascension Day, when the original Mansfelder mining beer is served.
